April Favourites

I thought for this blog post, I would tell you what my favourites have been for the month of April.

Favourite Make-Up Product

This super glittery eyeshadow from Wet 'n' Wild. I bought this for a night out on Easter Sunday as I usually do a gold and brown smokey eye, and I thought that this just looked fun for a nightclub setting. It is not particularly pigmented so I would definitely put this over another golden eyeshadow but it is as glittery as it looks in the photo, which is a major plus!

Favourite Beauty Product

This is a dry shampoo from LUSH. I tried it as I love LUSH bath bombs, and I got recommended this by one of the girls who works there, and it is so good! I do like the Bastille dry shampoo, but that is more for texture, whereas this actually works at soaking up the grease (bad mental image there, sorry!) so it is especially good for second or even third day hair.

Favourite Fashion Item

I think jewellery counts as fashion right? Yeah. This is my Pandora ring to resemble my January Capricorn birth stone and this month I have been wearing it almost every single day. It is so cute and small, yet still big enough to catch people's attention and goes with every outfit.

Favourite Book

The Beach by Alex Garland is classed as a thriller, but it wasn't that scary honestly as I'm a wuss when it comes to that genre. Richard, the main character, and some of his friends get given a map to a secret island in Thailand, and when they get there, they find that other people have already established a type of society, but it turns out that there are loads of twists and turns that you wouldn't expect. I don't want to ruin the plot so you should just read it and find out for yourself!

Favourite Item

I got this super sweet memory jar for my 18th from one of my group of friends. It is absolutely adorable and it lives on my desk so I can see it everyday, and this month I really enjoyed just picking out a random slip of paper every once in a while to make myself feel better if ever I was sad or frustrated or angry. Perfect mood buster so thank you girls, and a clever present idea!

Favourite TV Show

Definitely Pretty Little Liars! It is on Netflix and I have been hooked, but I'm only on Season 3 so no spoilers please! It is a series about a girl who goes missing, and then is found dead a year later, but her killer is never found. Her four best friends carry on the investigation between themselves after they continually get cyber bullied. I haven't sold it to you very well, but trust me the programme is a lot better.

Favourite Youtuber

This month I have really been loving Meg Says who is quite a small youtuber with only 7,594 subscribers but I think that she deserves way more. If you're into makeup and beauty, she is the one to watch and her videos are always so detailed. Her voice is so gentle as well that I could listen to her for hours.

Favourite Songs

Jealous by Nick Jonas and No Words by Erik Hassle

My MAC Collection

Recently, I have added more products to my makeup collection that are slightly more high end. I have been wanting to get makeup from MAC for so long, and with the help of Christmas, my 18th birthday and finally getting a part time job, I have been able to get some!

It is quite a small collection as of yet, but MAC makeup is quite expensive, especially for a full time student! I do want to get more things from MAC though, especially the Cinderella collection!

'Viva Glam II'
This was the first MAC product I ever got, in Dublin Airport. I was very excited and I asked the sales lady what lipstick she would suggest, and she suggested this one, but to be honest I haven't worn it anywhere near as much as I should have, because I am quite pale, and I feel like it doesn't suit my skin shade, but I will keep trying different combinations with lip glosses over the top and see if I find one that I love, as it is a beautiful lipstick!

My Auntie asked me what I wanted for Christmas, and so I said another MAC lipstick would be great, which I would hopefully use more often than the previous one. Along with the help of my older cousin, Hannah, they chose this shade and I love it! It is quite a bright pink for me as I am not one for a bold lip, but it is my go to lip for a night out (hence why it is oddly dented!)

'Opulash Optimum Black Mascara'
For my 18th birthday, my friends all clubbed together to get me a joint present, which consisted of Kurt Geiger heels (!) this mascara, and the next product. I have used this mascara and it is very good at lengthening and separating my lashes, so I usually pair it with another mascara that holds a curl, as my eye lashes are unfortunately straight! It is incredibly long lasting, and it doesn't say that it is waterproof, but it is on me!

''Girl Trouble'
This nail varnish was also part of the group present and it is such a glittery and girly shade! I am all about glitter! I haven't actually used it yet, as I bite my nails which I know is a bad habit, but as soon as they grow, it will be the first colour on!

'All That Glitters' - Top Left
'Blanc Type' - Top Right
'Quarry' - Bottom Left
'Folie' - Bottom Right
I bought this eyeshadow palette which I customised myself with birthday money and a voucher, so it was almost like a present to myself! As they are a higher end brand, I tend to only use these eyeshadows for when I go out in the evenings, as I usually go all out and do a smokey eye. These eyeshadow shades are my absolute favourite and even if I try to do something different, I always gravitate back to these types of colours. The pigmentation is amazing, especially with 'Folie' and 'Blanc Type' and there is hardly any fall out.

'Creme De La Femme'
I saw that there was a big trend earlier on in the year of purple lipstick, which kind of terrified me slightly as it is quite bold, but I also wanted to try it out. This lipstick is the perfect lipstick for getting yourself used to a purple shade, as it is mainly pink, but with a hint of purple. It was quite a shock for me at first, and I was slightly put off by it, but now I wear it like any old lipstick, and it is perfect for using only a small amount, so I know it will last me ages.

'Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder'
This powder is my most recent purchase from MAC, and I wanted to try their powders as I always hear such good things about them. Again, I asked the sales lady what sort of one I should get, as I wanted a powder that didn't look cakey, but still mattified (is that a word) my skin as I have got quite oily skin, without making me look 'orange'. By the way, I have to say that the MAC employees are so helpful and really know their stuff about makeup, so if you ever want to ask a question but are shy, just go for it as they are so nice! I like how it makes my skin look, which is still quite natural, but not oily, however it is quite hard to put on as it is a loose powder, rather than pressed, so I wouldn't do this without a mirror or in a rush.

Have you ever used any MAC products and do you have any recommendations for me?

Boots Beauty Haul

Recently I ran out of a few beauty staples, so I popped into my local Boots to restock, and I may have 'accidentally' purchased some extra little goodies, which I thought I would share with you for my first blog post.

Not a lot of things, but still quite exciting!

My hairbrush broke the other day, which was a tragedy! Luckily I had a Tangle Teezer lying around, but my hair gets incredibly knotty and so I knew that I had to go out and buy a 'proper' brush as soon as possible. This is a Boots own brand set consisting of three brushes which L-R are supposed to be used for; Volume & Curl, Detangling Comb and Smooth & Shine. It was £11.99 which isn't bad considering its three brushes for the price of one!

I am also running low on makeup wipes which I use daily for taking off my makeup before washing my face at night. I'm not fussy when it comes to choosing which makeup wipes I want, and the Boots own brand had the sensitive skin type ones which I prefer, and all for a deal of three for £3, so I am now stocked up for a long time!

I also shattered the little remains of my Rimmel 'Stay Matte' powder, so I went out and got the exact same one as it works just fine for me and it is quite cheap at £3.99.

I've heard about this Rimmel 'Match Perfection' foundation from various different people, and youtubers tend to rave about it as well, so I decided to try it out. I tried it for the first time yesterday, and it was the perfect match (010 Light Porcelain) and it was quite a medium coverage, which you could build up if you wanted, but I prefer the more natural look and so I was very happy with it! It was £6.99 as well so very affordable!

Boots were having a three for two deal on all Rimmel products, and so I decided to just treat myself to a new lipstick because why not. I wasn't looking for any particular shades, but this caught my eye as a good transitional pink from Spring to Summer. It is the Kate Moss lipstick in the shade 05 and it was £5.49.

I am also running low on my holy grail concealer which is Collection 'Lasting Perfection' concealer in the shade 01 Fair. I use it every day without fail and it is only £3.99 so you cannot really go wrong.

I have two of these Bourjois liquid lipsticks already, but in the matte collection which I love and so when I saw that they had brought some glossy colours out, I had to try one. I got mine in the shade 01 'Appechissant' and it looks like a very nice pinky nude. It was more on the expensive side for a drugstore lipstick at £8.99.

I also ran out of shampoo and conditioner and so decided to try the Herbal Essences brand in the formula for 'Beautiful Ends' to prevent split ends as my hair is medium-long. These were £3.89 each.

Let me know if any of you use these products or have any other recommendations!
