April Favourites

April is at an end now, meaning the countdown to exams is now just over one month away. Let's move on to my favourites for the month to distract me.

Favourite Makeup Product

MAC 'Velvet Teddy'

I know you've probably all heard of this shade already, but this is new to me and I love it! It is a light brown nude that gives me kind of a '90s vibe'. I was worried that it might not have suited my pale skin, but it definitely works with any skin tone. Obsessed with this.

Favourite Beauty Product

The Body Shop 'Shade Adjusting Drops' in Lightening

Also new to me this month, are these drops of white that you add in and mix with your foundation. I struggle to find shades of foundation, high end and low end, that match to my skin tone. Most of them  either make my face look orange, or at least a lot darker than my white, white neck. This has been so good, as now I can buy any foundation (within reason) and whiten it up a bit.

Favourite Fashion Item

This necklace was given to me by some of my friends for my eighteenth birthday and I still love it and wear it regularly. It is the perfect necklace to make a slight statement and stand out, without being too much. It is also so personal to me too as I live in Bristol, which is on the map cut out.

Favourite Book

Dream a Little Dream

This book, by Giovanna Fletcher, follows a main character called Sarah's journey post break up. To make matters worse, her ex-boyfriend Sarah left her for another woman and is still very much in her life thanks to their friendship group being the same. She starts to have very detailed dreams about a man she met in University years earlier, and then it all gets very interesting...

Favourite TV Show

I have been loving 'Australia's Next Top Model'. It is basically a show about wannabe models in a competition against each other to always have the highest marks and eventually be the Next Top Model and get a modelling contract. They're all so beautiful and they do crazy cool things, like cat walking down the side of a building and doing a photoshoot with motorbikes.

Favourite Youtuber

Shaaanxo. Shannon is a beauty youtuber who makes three videos a week, and I also love her vlog channel too, where she posts almost daily. She does have an insane amount of makeup which I am extremely jealous of but she uses it super well in her videos. If you love makeup and beauty, you'll love her!

Favourite Songs

TiO by Zayn and Cheap Thrills by Sia.

What have you been loving in April?

Revlon 'Matte Lip Colours' Review

Guys, this is my 50th blog post! Exciting! If you read my April Boots Haul (here), you will know that I picked up three shades of the new Revlon 'Ultra HD Matte Lip Colours' - their version of liquid lipsticks. There are seven shades in the collection with a good range of colours. I would love to finish my collection....

The three shades that I picked up are:
*600 Devotion - a light pink
*610 Addiction - a deep purple
*635 Passion - a bright, berry red

First off, as you can see, the pigmentation is good. The lighter shades only need one coat, but the red shade especially needed two coats I felt, just to get it looking perfect. That could just be me though as I am a bit of a perfectionist. They also do take quite a long time to finally become matte and they do dry lighter (especially if you use more than one coat), which did annoy me slightly at first as you can't tell if it will be patchy, but it does look the same as when first applied, but just lighter. Their longevity is quite good though, and personally I don't mind the odd retouch, but if you are eating and drinking, just be wary. They don't leave your lips feeling dry either, possibly why they take a bit longer to set.

Their packaging I like a lot, with the silver handles and frosted glass. The applicator I also find really easy to work with, as it is quite thin and non-flexible, and the top is rounded, so you can easily create a precise line for the edge of your lips, meaning that a lip liner is not required. They are £8.99 each, which is a good price point I think as they do look like they have quite a lot of product that will last for a long time, obviously depending on how often you use it. I will definitely pick up some more in the other shades as I do like them.

Have you tried these lipsticks?

The Body Shop: Face Masks

I have always been a big fan of The Body Shop as they are one of my mum's favourite brands too. They are a fair trade company who use natural ingredients, so all of their products are made ethically and sustainably, which I think is just such a good bonus for the environment. Recently, I have been loving their face masks!

Seaweed Ionic Clay Mask

This one I have had for longer, as you can tell as it is still in the old packaging. This face mask targets  oily/combination skin as it controls excess oils and draws out impurities. This is a really thick cream that sets extremely hard, and I usually leave it on until it all sets (turns from light grey to dark grey) which is about ten minutes. It also has a pleasant, but subtle scent. I like to use this about once a week, and as it is such a thick face mask, I tend to do it in the evening so that I am not putting makeup on my skin for at least twelve hours to really feel the benefits. This is £14 and it lasts for quite a few applications, depending on how generous you are with it.

Tea Tree Skin Clearing Clay Mask

As the name suggests, this face mask is targeted more towards any type of skin, and it helps to remove impurities and control breakouts. This is a new one for me, and so far I have only used it once, but I did find that it did vary to the first mask noticeably. It was not as thick, feeling more like a moisturiser to apply, with a green colour. It did set though, after about 15 minutes. It does say to apply a generous amount, so I applied two layers, as the first one didn't look like enough. This has a much stronger scent of mint, but it isn't overpowering and doesn't linger. This one you can do more often I would say as it is a lighter consistency, so tailor it on how bad your skin is, but I would say for me about twice a week. This is slightly cheaper at £11 and I estimate that it has the same amount of applications as the first face mask.

Have you tried any Body Shop face masks?

Maybelline 'Brow Drama' Pomade Crayon Review

Recently, I have discovered a new brow product. If you have seen my latest haul, which you can see here, you will know that I bought the Maybelline 'Brow Drama' Pomade Crayon in  'Dark Blond' for an insane price of £2.99.

This will not get you the perfect eyebrows, but for a day to day quick makeup routine I love it. It is such a good shade for me, as anything too dark looks too overpowering on me with my blonde hair and pale skin. You just use it like a big eyebrow pencil, so run it gently along your eyebrows and it will fill them in. It is a really creamy product and so it requires minimal effort and work, which is always a bonus. It is also twistable, so there is a lot of product. I would repurchase again.

Have you tried this product?

Wearable Smoky Eye

I don't know about you but when I hear the words 'smoky eye' I instantly think of really precise winged eye liner, silver and black shades, and a look that would take a lot of time and look impractical on a day to day basis. Personally, eyeshadow is my favourite step of my makeup routine, so sometimes I like to do something a bit more special than just one shade over my lid. This is my wearable smoky eye using my MAC quad that I personalised, which you can read about in more detail in this post. Sorry in advance for the photo heavy post too.

Start by putting a golden/bronze shade all over your lid.

Then start to deepen your crease by putting a lighter brown shade through your crease.

This would even be enough on its own, if you are going for an even simpler look.

Next, add a darker brown shade to your outer corner, so the end of your crease, and then connect it to your upper lash line.

Then blend out the edges so all the different shades connect and look slightly less harsh.

Lastly for the eyeshadow, run the lightest shade under your lower lash line in the inner half, and the darkest shade in the outer half.

Then add your mascara.

Finished! This is honestly such a quick and easy look that still looks beautiful and like you've spent ages doing your makeup.

Would you wear this eyeshadow?

The Liebster Awards

I have been nominated for the Liebster Award by Jessica! Thank you so much!

What is the Liebster Award? The Liebstar Award was created to recognise, promote and welcome new bloggers to the blogging community.
What are the rules of the Liebstar Award? The rules are pretty simple:
* Thank the blogger who nominated you, including a link to their blog.
* Include the Liebstar Award sticker.
* Answer the 11 questions the blogger gives you.
* Nominate 5 other blogs who lave less than 500 blog followers.
* Ask them 11 new questions.

Here are my answers to Jessica's questions:

What are the three tips that you would tell a new blogger?
My three tips would be to: write about what you love; celebrate each little milestone; and don't be embarrassed to self promote yourself!

If you were given £1000 right now, what would you do with it?
I would give it to a homeless person, as I feel like it would be everything to them - I don't know, it's quite mushy and hard to explain but I have always wanted to do something big like that for someone.

What are your four holy grail skincare products?
I'm so bad and I don't really have a proper skincare routine yet! I want to have a facial soon and really get talked through each step but for now my 'holy grail' products would be: a gentle exfoliator (mine is from No 7); an everyday face wash (mine is from Witch); a deep cleaning face mask (mine is from the Body Shop) and a super effective spot treatment (mine is from Lush).

List three things on your bucket list.
Three things on my bucket list are to: build and decorate my own home; get married and have children (calm down, not yet); and to become a good cook.

What's one thing you never leave the home without?
I never leave the house without my phone. I never even use it much, but I always get panicked because I feel that if something bad happens, I won't know.

What pushes you to keep blogging?
My pure love of makeup pushes me to keep blogging. I love talking about makeup, and at this stage, I've been talking to everyone I know so much about it that they are all sick of it now so I needed a new audience.

Which would you choose to give up if you had to: makeup, hair products or your bed?
I would give up hair products as I like my natural hair and hopefully it doesn't, but if that includes shampoo and conditioner too, I've heard a myth that apparently after quite a while your hair starts to clean itself? Sounds quite convenient. Otherwise people would just get used to my greasy hair after a while.

What is something you would tell your 12 year old self?
I would tell my 12 year old self to not worry about things as much, as I am such a worrier! I probably wouldn't listen though and just keep worrying.

How do you manage your time with blogging?
I think of posts in advance, take pictures if I have a particularly good lighting day and I have a good schedule of Wednesday's and Sunday's that I can fit around my college work.

Bath or shower?
Ooh this is difficult! I love baths as they are relaxing, but I have showers more often.

What is your dream holiday location?
Again with the tough questions! I would love love love to do a super long road trip through the USA.

The 5 Bloggers I nominate are:

My 11 Questions:
1) What is your favourite lipstick?
2) What is your favourite Disney film?
3) What are your favourite posts to write?
4) What TV series are you loving at the moment?
5) Would you rather take perfect selfies and look bad in real life or take bad selfies and look perfect in real life?
6) How often do you read?
7) Who is your favourite 'smaller' Youtuber?
8) Matte or dewy?
9) Are you a candle person?
10) Do you have any siblings?
11) What was your favourite toy as a child?

Feel free to answer these questions in the comments too!

Maybelline Lipsticks

To carry on with my broken down lipstick collection, today's post will be all about my lipsticks from Maybelline. My last post for this series was about my Ted Baker lipsticks, which you can see here

Maybelline have quite a large collection of lipsticks available, and most are separated into mini collections which I will explain as we go along.

I have got quite a good shade variation here. I have:
* '728 Honey Beige' - a brownish nude - Nude Collection
* '418 Peach Poppy' - super light orange - Rebel Bouquet Collection
* '538 Ravishing Rose' - orange with a slight hint of red - Rebel Bouquet Collection
* '975 Divine Wine' - a dark matte berry red - Matte Collection
* '365 Plum Passion' - a medium purple

All except 'Ravishing Rose' are quite a satin finish, but they still stay on your lips a long time, and if you use a lip liner underneath they can come off more matte. I do like the formula, they are all very creamy and are not drying, even the matte shade that I have. The only one that I could not find on the Boots website was 'Plum Passion'. The pigmentation is very good, even with the lighter shades. They are not my most worn lipsticks, just because they are not the most everyday shades, but at £6.99 you can't really go wrong. The packaging is also understatedly classic and very practical with the frosted plastic, as you can basically tell what colour range it is in, making it easy to find.

Have you got any Maybelline lipsticks?

April Boots Haul

Guys, I bought more products again. Yet again, I went in for one thing and came out with six, exactly like the last haul which you can see here. This time I succumbed to some new lip products I've seen and wanted to get my hands on.

The original product that I went in for was the Maybelline 'Lash Sensational' Mascara as mine is slowly dying and so I needed to repurchase. This was £7.99. I have seen adverts for the intriguing 'Brow Drama Pomade Crayon' in 'Dark Blond' and I wanted to see how it worked. Plus, Gigi Hadid is the model, and I mean, who wouldn't want to look like her, so I picked it up as Maybelline were having a buy one, get a second item half price deal, meaning that this was £2.99 for me.

Next I headed over to the Revlon counter as I had seen these little beauties all over the internet and really wanted to try them out. I picked up three shades of the 'Ultra HD Matte Lipcolour' as they were having a three for two deal, but I didn't really need an excuse. The shades I picked up were; '600 Devotion', '610 Addiction' and '635 Passion'. These were £8.99 each and I am going to do a more in depth review of these soon.

I had then also heard about the L'Oreal 'Infallible Matte Max' Lipstick and picked one up in '001 Silencio'. I was interested in some of the other shades, but decided to just get the lightest shade as I am loving nude shades at the moment. This was £6.99. There will probably be a blog post up about this too as it is such a new and innovative design.

Have you bought anything recently?
