May Favourites

Thought I'd do a nice little bonus post today as it's the last day of May! I know it's cliche, but it is crazy how fast this year is passing! I'm ready for summer now though, just exams getting in the way!

Favourite Makeup Product

Urban Decay 'Gwen Stefani' Eyeshadow Palette

I have been using this palette non stop this month. I brought it to Dublin with me for the weekend and I fell back in love with it. I am still yet to use the three more adventurous shades in the middle of the bottom row, but I have ideas. My most used combination is 'Pop' on the lid and a mix of 'Anaheim' and 'Zone' in the crease.

Favourite Beauty Product

Clean & Clear 'Blackhead Clearing Daily Scrub'

I don't believe in their motto of clearer skin in three days, but my skin definitely has got noticeably clearer since using this product. I especially like the fact that it is a scrub, so it is exfoliating as well, which helps keep my oily skin at bay.

Favourite Fashion Item

Recently I have been loving wearing a plain and comfortable shirt or t-shirt and jazzing it up with a statement necklace. This necklace was from Primark a couple of years ago but it is still going strong!

Favourite TV Show

I have been loving 'Game of Thrones'. I am so glad that it is back on my TV and literally I can't even wait for it to be recorded before I watch it. It is quite violent and gruesome, but I love it so much. We're now on Season 6 and it is just getting more and more interesting. I love how it blends so many different storylines together so that it never gets boring. Can't rate it any higher!

Favourite Youtuber

Danielle Mansutti. Dani is a beauty youtuber who posts a mixture of makeup looks, reviews and travel diaries. She is absolutely beautiful and every makeup look she posts, I want to recreate. I wish I was her as she has an amazing Australian accent too - just a perfect human! Trust me, she's great.

Favourite Songs

Dancing On My Own by Calum Scott, The Sound by The 1975 and Kiss It Better by Rihanna.

What have you been loving in May?

Sleek Highlighting Palette in 'Solstice' Review

Recently I have been all about highlighting. I put so much on my face I practically glow but I cannot get enough. If you have seen my 'High End Makeup Haul' (here), you will know that I bought two highlighters and I have been using them non stop and I love them. However, I wanted to see what the drugstore has to offer as anywhere I can save money is always a bonus. I decided to buy a Sleek Highlighting Palette in 'Solstice'. Sleek have another one with more bronze shades which I did like the look of too, but that had three cream shades and only one powder shade, and I prefer powder so I didn't buy it, but it does look good if you want to check that out too.

First of all, the packaging. This is a beautiful rose gold mirrored palette, unlike all of their other black packaged products. I think that it really makes the palette look luxurious and way more expensive. It makes it very hard to photograph but I mean, we'll overlook that.

I took a picture with the little plastic cover with the shade names on, just so that I will always know what they're called, however, I'm aware they're not that clear so....

Top Left is 'Ecliptic'
Top Right is 'Hemisphere'
Bottom Left is 'Subsolar'
Bottom Right is 'Equinox'

Here is a close up of the shades.

'Ecliptic' is a rose gold shade with a cream formula.
'Hemisphere' is a silvery purple shade with a baked formula.
'Subsolar' is a yellowy silver shade with a shimmer formula.
'Equinox' is a bronzy gold shade with a baked formula.

I love the versatility of this palette as for me the shades are quite out there, especially 'Hemisphere', yet they are all completely wearable shades and extremely pigmented. This palette also comes with a brush, but the brush is pretty useless in my opinion. Still better than nothing though! For reference, I use a Real Techniques 'Contour Brush' to apply my highlighter.

I tried to get a swatch on my arm, but it didn't work out very well. However, you can see the shimmer coming off of the swatches, but they come off much more pigmented on your face, trust me.

For £9.99, I think this palette is extremely worth it and Sleek have really impressed me. I find myself reaching for this palette quite a lot, and I do use all of the shades for different looks. If you are looking for a cheap highlighter, I highly suggest this palette as per highlighter, they are basically £2.50 which is crazy! This palette would also suit any skin tone.

Have you got this palette?

Summer Fashion Wish List

Now that it is coming in to summer, I am loving looking at clothes online and waiting for the warmer weather to kick in. Thanks England for your indecisive weather. I am also going to Spain on holiday this summer, so I am getting really excited and using that as an excuse.

They are all from the ASOS website.

1 - 'Bikini Top' and 'Bikini Bottoms'. I have actually just bought this and can't wait for it to come! I much prefer high waisted bikinis as my stomach is not my favourite area and I think they look so flattering on every body type. I love the monochrome look at the moment too, but the print is still really summery. This is ASOS own brand too, so it is so affordable at £12 for the top and £16 for the bottoms.

2 - 'Floral Dress'. I think that this is the perfect dress for summer holidays! It is loose and flowy to allow the air in, meaning it won't stick to you, but it still has a nice shape and shows enough skin to get a tan. I love the pretty bright print too. This is quite pricey at £45 but I think that I would get enough wear out of it to justify it.

3 - 'Pink Skirt'. I love the bright colour, yet it is still subtle enough to wear for a casual occasion. I love the slightly longer length of the skirt too, as it will help avoid an accidental flash if there is wind, and it fits with the relaxed style of a holiday wardrobe. This is very well priced at £18.

4 - 'Ballerina Shoes'. I adore how cute these shoes are. They are so pretty and delicate with the strap around the ankle and the scalloped edges, yet quite different with the metallic blue / silver colour. They would go with everything too which is perfect. They are a steal at £22.99.

5 - 'Monochrome Shoes'. These really fit in to my style and I love wearing comfortable shoes. I would get so much wear out of these and they are only £14.99.

6 - 'Striped Dress'. I love the versatility of this dress - I think it could be dressed up or down to suit any occasion and any season. It also looks like it would be quite comfortable but still with a shape. This is £38, which I think is a fair price.

Would you wear these items of clothing?

A Weekend In Dublin

For today's post I thought that I would share with you some pictures of my weekend away in Dublin for my auntie's fortieth. I tried to take pictures of everything including food but I got so excited that I had already eaten half of my food before I took a picture, so there are no pictures of dinner but I will tell you where we ate anyway.

We arrived in Dublin at our hotel at about 11 am. We stayed in The Clayton Hotel in Cardiff Lane, which was quite a central area to everything which was good and it was a really nice hotel. I totally didn't take enough pictures this day but all we did was go shopping and eat out. I highly recommend eating at the Elephant and Castle restaurant in the Temple Bar area as their food was gorgeous! We then also went into a traditional Irish bar and had a few drinks and danced.

We acted like proper tourists on this day. We went to the Guinness Factory and learnt all about how they make it, and then we all got to pour our own pint, (where we got a certificate and everything), and drank it up in the Sky Bar which is a room right at the top of the factory with 360 degree views of Dublin. We then did a long bus tour around Dublin seeing lots of sights such as the Zoo and their old prisons, before jumping off to have dinner at The Mongolian Barbeque which is a self service Asian restaurant which I also highly recommend! We then went back to the hotel, got all dressed up and headed out to Sam's Bar which is a really cool bar which plays old school music mixed in with current tracks and has a really cool vibe.

We flew home on Sunday on the 3 pm flight, and so I didn't take any pictures as all we did was have breakfast and go. My last post was what I bought at the airport though if you're interested (here).

I would highly recommend Dublin as a perfect city break for a weekend away or even longer. I definitely want to go back. Have you ever been to Dublin or live there and do you have any recommendations?

High End Makeup Haul

As you may know from my last post, I went to Dublin for the weekend for one of my auntie's fortieth birthday. Eleven of us went in total and it was so much fun and such a great weekend. We drank, we ate, we shopped and we toured. I might do a separate post on what we did and where we want so stay tuned. One of the main reasons why I buy makeup on holiday is because airports don't charge taxes and the conversion makes everything a lot cheaper, and so I tend to save my money up and buy quite a bit at a time when I go over to Ireland or any other countries. This time I bought things that I have been wanting for such a long time, so I'm excited to show you!

In Dublin I bought three products as I knew already that they weren't in the airport. I started off with Too Faced as I have been eyeing their products for the longest time. Their 'Natural Eyes Palette' has nine shades in golden/bronzy shades (so I was always going to love it really) and are all very wearable. I also bought the 'Better Than Sex Mascara' as my cousin wears this religiously and I've seen nothing but good reviews so thought I'd try it. Just opposite the Too Faced counter was The Balm counter and I spotted the 'Mary-Lou Manizer Highlighter' straight away and didn't even think twice before running directly the queue to pay.

In the airport I started with MAC - one of my favourite brands. I know I only just did a MAC lipstick collection post, but I couldn't resist picking up a new MAC lipstick in the shade 'Diva'. It is described as a reddy/burgundy but I can see slight undertones of brown too which I am excited to try out. I also got one of their beloved Mineralize Skin Finishes in the shade 'Soft & Gentle' which is just a highlighter from dreams. It is quite a gold and obvious highlighter, with a lot of shimmer and sparkle, but one of my favourite makeup products is highlighter so I always go all out and this is just perfect. I then bought a cult makeup product from Benefit which yet again I have wanted for so long - the 'Hoola Bronzer'. I expect you've all seen of or already own this, and I have been missing out, but not anymore!

Have you bought any makeup recently?

Weekend Away Makeup Bag

Last time I went on holiday I wrote a post about the makeup I brought along with me and you guys seemed to like it, so I thought that seeing as I'm going to Dublin this weekend I would show you what I am bringing with me to put on my face.

I am still enjoying the No 7 'Advanced Day Cream' to moisturise my face, before following it with the No 7 'Instant Illusions Primer' which I am currently loving! My foundation of choice is the NARS 'Sheer Glow' in Mont Blanc, as it can look natural for the day and be built up for the evenings, but I will need to bring my Body Shop 'Lightening Drops' as the foundation is too dark for me.

I have recently started using the Maybelline 'Instant Age Eraser Eye Concealer' for under my eyes, and then on top of that and on any redness or spots I will obviously be bringing my beloved Collection 'Lasting Perfection Concealer', which has the grubbiest packaging. My current powder is the Soap and Glory 'One Heck Of A Blot Powder' and my bronzer, blush and highlighter palette of choice is by Sleek as it is so compact and wearable shades.

I am aware that this is quite a lot to bring, but this weekend is for a fortieth birthday, so I want to have perfect makeup. I am loving the Urban Decay 'Gwen Stefani Palette' recently - the shade range is perfect from neutrals to smoky shades, to pops of colour. To accompany this I have chosen the MAC 'Painterly Paint Pot', Soap and Glory 'Supercat Eyeliner' for a classic winged look, Maybelline 'Lash Sensational Mascara' and Benefit 'Rollerlash Mascara' for dramatic eyelashes. For brows, I have brought my Tanya Burr 'Perfect Brows Palette', Benefit 'Gimme Brow' and Maybelline 'Brow Pomade Crayon'.

I have gone for a classic nude, and a classic red for this weekend. MAC 'Velvet Teddy' and 'Ruby Woo' with a Rimmel 'Exaggerate 204 Red Diva Lip Liner' are my current go to shades.

What makeup would you choose to bring on holiday with you?

MAC Lipsticks

MAC is one of my favourite brands, especially for lipsticks! I have twelve lip products from them, and I still have a big wish list of more to get so the obsession continues. This is the third part of my little series about my lipstick collection. My previous two have been on: Maybelline (which you can see here) and Ted Baker (here). I also did a big lipstick collection last year which was a lot smaller than what it looks like now (here) and a MAC Collection post from last year too (here).

On to the beautiful lipsticks! I have organised them into colour/shades to make it easier to follow.

L-R and T-B: 'Viva Glam II', 'Velvet Teddy' and 'Brave'

Nudes are fast becoming my favourite shades. As you can see, Brave is my most worn shade and I have already bought the second tube of it too for when this one eventually dies. I thought this was a matte formula originally, but it is actually a satin formula, but it still lasts for ages. I have done a more in depth review of Brave if you want to read that here. Velvet Teddy is my newest MAC lipstick but is also fast becoming very well loved and a staple. I also love that its matte but still everyday wearable. Viva Glam II is probably my least worn, but as you can see it is quite similar to Velvet Teddy, just not as matte and more cool toned and it is a beautiful shade, just probably not on my skin tone. It is also less of a statement as it is a satin formula.

L-R and T-B: 'Creme De La Femme' and 'Plumful'

Pinks are not my most used shades, but sometimes, especially in the Spring, I get more interested in pink shades and like to switch it up sometimes. These two shades are quite similar to each other, but Creme De La Femme has more of a purple undertone to it and is sheerer, as it is a frost formula, and Plumful is more of a statement. This used to be my go to for any party or event as it is a lustre formula so not too high maintenance.

L-R and T-B: 'On Hold', 'D For Danger' and 'Ruby Woo'

Reds are my favourite shades and always have been. I think they really suit me, what with being pale and blonde. Ruby Woo is my absolute favourite shade ever, as it is a very statement red that make my teeth look whiter which is always a bonus, but as it is a retro matte formula, it is extremely drying and also quite hard to apply. D For Danger is also a beautiful matte shade. It is darker and more of a berry red, sort of Rimmel 107 esque. On Hold is a cremesheen formula which I found when on the hunt for a more natural red shade (which I'm still looking for), but this is a nice shade and a bit more daytime suitable.

These products are in their own category as I got them in a set for Christmas and it says that they cannot be sold individually. I can't remember what the collection is called, but the products are:

L-R and T-B: 'Pretty Irresistible' lipstick, 'Beet' lip pencil and 'A Favourite Flame' lip glass

This is such a nice collection and I use the lip liner with basically all the red shades and it glides on so creamy and easy, but not too soft so that you can't get a precise line. I prefer matte lips so I haven't really used the lip gloss much, but I love that it matches perfectly if ever I want to. The lipstick though is beautiful. It is red with almost a hot pink undertone to it, making it quite a unique shade and its matte, which again is my fave.

Lastly I have one of MAC's matte liquid lip colours in the shade 'Oh Lady' which is a beautiful dark purple. I haven't been brave enough to wear this out yet, but I have tried it on and I love it. Who knows, I might wear it soon!

Do you have any MAC suggestions for me or have you any of these shades?

Two Favourite Foundations

Next up in my favourite product series are my two favourite foundations! My previous posts are herehere and here. I wear foundation basically every time I wear makeup, which is quite often. I have quite oily skin, so a lot of foundations wear off really easily on me, so finding foundations I love are key. Disclaimer, I haven't tried very many so these are just my favourites that I've tried so far.

L'Oreal Infallible 24H Matte Foundation

This is such a good full coverage foundation as it does stay relatively matte on me for quite a long time, which let me tell you, is rare. I do still need to powder throughout the day though, but I expect that I will for most foundations. I haven't tested it for 24 hours, but I have worn it for about 16 hours probably and it does last quite a long time. I have done a more in depth review about this foundation, which you can see here. The only thing that I will say is that, as you can even tell by the photo, it is quite orange looking. I did buy the lightest shade, 10 Porcelain, but it doesn't match me and that is quite a massive drawback.

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation

I would say that at the moment, this is my favourite foundation. It is a medium coverage foundation I would say, that looks quite natural, but it is buildable and it has a good formula of slightly dewy but not oily. I am in the shade Mont Blanc and it is quite a good shade match for me, however again not perfect. It lasts a really long time too, and this is my most worn foundation that I wear most days. It still gets a bit oily on me, and I need to powder often to keep it looking nice, but it is good and I am glad I bought it and I do love it.

I still haven't found my dream foundation yet though, so leave your favourites in the comments below for me to check out!
