August Favourites

Urban Decay 'Naked' Eyeshadow Palette - I have gone back, once again, to using my favourite palette on a daily basis. The twelve shades are just ideal for me, and suit any outfit, occasion or effort. The eye shadows are amazing quality, long lasting and really pigmented. I have done a more in depth blog post including more pictures if you are interested, here

L'Oreal Paris 'Infallible 24H Matte' Foundation - I have been using this foundation on and off for around six months, but throughout August I have been using it almost daily. I have been preferring to use it with a more dewy primer, as otherwise the foundation can be quite drying, but I don't mind this too much as it just means that the matte effect of the product is working. It lasts a long time (I still haven't tested it for a full 24 hours) and after quite a while, maybe four hours, it does turn slightly dewy but it still is beautiful.

Chanel 'Correcteur Perfection' Concealer  - On me, this concealer also seems to have a matte finish, which is perfect as it helps to stay on all my spots longer, meaning that I don't need to top up throughout the day. It is unfortunately quite an expensive concealer, and if I do have enough money when it inevitably runs out, I will definitely repurchase.

MAC 'Velvet Teddy' - I'm sure by now that everyone has heard of this infamous lipstick. This is a light brown toned nude which I have been loving for so long. I am obsessed with matte lipsticks, and this one falls perfectly into that category. Again, this shade matches anything I wear and I gravitate towards putting it on every morning as I'm doing my makeup.

Essie 'Master Plan' - I know its summer and most people are loving bright colours on their nails, but I have been loving this grey shade with brown undertones. I'm really in a neutrals mood at the moment for some reason. I think this nail varnish is elegant and chic, and Essie just make such good quality nail varnishes. It does need two coats, but I don't mind spending slightly more time on my nails.

What have you been loving in August?

University Clothes Wishlist

I am starting University in September, so a new start calls for some new clothes - am I right? These are my current lusts on ASOS and Missguided that suit any occasion from classroom to nightclub.

1 - White Lace Crop Top - This beautiful top can be dressed up with a skirt and heels, or dressed down with jeans and trainers. It could also be worn out in any season as it does have long sleeves, although they aren't very protective. White is a very versatile colour, and so will suit almost anything it is paired with, making it a much needed item in my opinion. This is from Missguided and is £25.

2 - Black T-Shirt Dress - Again, this dress can be dressed up or down, depending on the footwear and accessories. I love being comfortable, but still looking good, so this is perfect. It is satin, so it has a more luxurious feel to it, and it would suit anyone. A little black dress is also a staple piece. This is from Missguided and is £25.

3 - Pink T-Shirt - This top is my favourite style of t-shirt - comfy and cute. The extra details of the two straps crossing over makes it more unique, and I love the blush pink colour. I can see myself wearing this top a lot! This is from Missguided and is £10.

4 - Striped Top - This top is another casual t-shirt that can be worn with absolutely anything. The cold shoulders gives it an edgier look, and the striped pattern is classic and a favourite of mine. This is from Missguided and is £15.

5 - Black Choker T-Shirt - I have never seen this style of t-shirt before. It looks like a simple black t-shirt, but it has an extra detail of a strap around the neck to look like a choker. This is quite unique to me anyway, and as soon as I saw it I wanted it. This is from Missguided and is £15.

6 - Pink Midi Skirt - This skirt would be perfect for going out as you wouldn't have to spend the entire evening/night worrying that your skirt is too short and your bum is accidentally showing. Again, it is also in that blush pink shade that I am obsessed with recently. This is from ASOS and is £30.

7 - Black Vest Top - I can imagine that this top would be perfect for impromptu nights out where you want to be slightly more casual, but still dressed up. This top, jeans and nice black heels/flats can get you anywhere! This is from ASOS and is £30.

8 - Navy Shirt - This shirt and top combo gives me such preppy vibes - exactly what I can imagine wearing to lectures and classes. This looks so comfy, yet again perfectly stylish. The blue is a pop of colour, whilst still being slightly neutral and subtle. This is from ASOS and is £22.

Would you wear any of these items of clothing?

Highlighter Collection

My newest beauty addiction has been highlighter. I apply so much I'm probably going to be compared to a disco ball soon. As I have been loving highlighter recently, I've started investing in buying different types and colours, from different brands and price ranges, and I now have a sort of 'mini' collection of four products. It's not a very big collection, and I will definitely be expanding it in the future, but for now it is enough for me.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in 'Soft & Gentle' - This product really is a cult classic, and for a good reason. This highlighter has a slight marbled effect to it, which swirls together a light bronze shade and light pink shade, to create an overall champagne shade. It has incredible pigmentation, without being too glittery and in your face, and will suit any skin tone. It is the most expensive of my collection, at £24, but it is also the biggest at 10g. I would 100% recommend this highlighter to anyone as you can reach any desired effect with it, as it blends easily and layers nicely to allow you to reach the perfect amount of highlighter for your look.

The Balm 'Mary-Lou Manizer' - This product is also incredibly popular, for obvious reasons. This highlighter is more of a white gold shade, so it may not work for darker skin tones, but it could always be used as an eyeshadow. It does have incredible pigmentation, but it is a very shimmery highlighter, so if you dislike the really highlighted look (I clearly don't!), you may not like this highlighter. It is £17.50, and is still quite big at 8.5g. I would definitely recommend this highlighter to people who love a very glowy look - it doesn't really suit more natural makeup, but I would buy it even for occasional nights out when you want the shimmer as it is that good and worth the money.

Sleek Highlighting Palette in 'Solstice' - I have done a separate blog post about this palette, where I go into more detail and swatch the four shades, if you would like to read it here. It has four beautiful shades, that I would describe as being quite out there - for example, it has a purple shade! At £10, you really should try it out as it is really good quality, especially as it's from the drug store.

Collection Speedy Highlighter in 'Pearl Sheen' - This product is a cream highlighter, and is so quick to apply, as the name suggests. This was my first highlighter, and I still go back to it occasionally, even with more high end options. It is a light pink/cream shade, and is also really pigmented. It does look slightly more natural as you apply it before powder products (for the best application), so after powder it is slightly less obvious, but if this is an issue for you, you can always layer another highlighter on top. It is incredibly long lasting, and a steal at £3.99.

What is your favourite highlighter?
